FAQS
Straight answers.
General
Standard jobs within the week; urgent digs and demos often within days. The quote states the machines-on-site date — we hit 98% of them.
Yes — tip fees, fuel and travel are inside the number. The only movable line is rock, and it’s shown as a separate rate up front so nothing is hidden.
All of greater Sydney — Eastern Suburbs to Penrith, Palm Beach to Camden. Crews are based east, north-west and south-west, so travel time never lands on your bill.
NSW contractor licence 000000C, $20M public liability and SafeWork-compliant SWMS on every site. Certificates come attached to every quote, not on request.
If a machine makes it faster, we’ll quote it — a single stump, a one-day dig, a driveway. Text photos and you’ll get a yes/no plus a price the same day.
Land Clearing
Depends on vegetation type and your LGA. Protected species need a permit; regrowth and most exotics don’t. Send us your address and we’ll tell you before anything is booked.
Mulched on site if you want it, otherwise loaded and taken to a licensed recycling facility. Dockets provided with the invoice.
A standard suburban block is 1–2 days. Heavy vegetation or big stumps push it to 3–4. The quote states the exact days.
Demolition
Usually your builder or certifier lodges it; we supply everything they need — SWMS, insurance, licence. For owner-managed jobs we can point you to a private certifier.
Pre-1990 homes get an assessment first. Licensed removalists handle any friable material before our machines touch the structure. It’s priced and programmed up front.
A standard house is down in 2–3 days, clear in 5–8 including slab removal. Weather and asbestos findings are the only movers.
Excavation
Yes — it’s half our work. We run 1.0 m-wide machines, conveyor loading and, where it’s genuinely crane-only, we coordinate the lift. Battle-axe blocks, rear yards, terrace backs: all fine.
Rock is the main price variable in Sydney. The site visit includes a probe where geology is suspect, and the quote separates a rock rate so you’re never billed blind.
Yes — loading, trucking and tip fees are inside the quoted price. We run our own truck-and-dog fleet, so spoil moves the day it’s dug.
Set out with laser and GPS against the survey plan; finished levels within ±10 mm. Your builder can pour off our handover.
Most residential digs land between $6,000 and $20,000 depending on volume, rock and access. The ranges above cover 80% of last year’s jobs — the free site visit fixes your number.
Land Filling
VENM or ENM — material certified free of contaminants and building waste. Every load we bring arrives with paperwork; keep it with your building file.
Not if it’s compacted in layers with the right moisture — that’s the difference between dumped fill and engineered fill. We test and certify each lift.
Yes — punch drainage holes in the shell, backfill in compacted layers, certificate at the end. It’s a 1–2 day job for most pools.
Dirt Removal
Rough rule: a pile the size of a single garage is 30–40 m³ — about two truck-and-dog loads. Text a photo with something for scale and we’ll count it for you.
Yes. The number we quote is the number you pay — tipping, fuel and tolls are ours to manage.
Clean spoil, concrete, brick — yes. Mixed building waste is priced separately as it tips at a different facility. We’ll sort what we can to keep the cost down.
Driveway Removal
No — we saw-cut at the boundary and work backwards. Council assets stay untouched, photographed before and after.
Yes — regrade, roadbase and compaction so your concreter forms up straight away. Ask for it in the same quote.
Most single driveways are out in a day; the base prep is done the same day or the morning after.
Concrete Breaking & Hauling
Standard 100 mm slabs to 600 mm mass footings — the 13 t breaker handles it. Thicker industrial pads get assessed at the site visit.
Breaking is loud for short bursts. We work council hours, notify neighbours on request and sequence the loudest work mid-morning.
Almost all of it — crushed into roadbase at licensed facilities. Dockets come with your invoice.
Retaining Walls
In NSW, walls over 600 mm generally need approval; under that, exempt development usually applies. We build to the engineer’s design either way and supply the certification.
Water, nearly always. Skipping the drainage behind the wall saves $80 a metre and costs a rebuild. Ours get ag-line, gravel and weep holes as standard.
Sleepers for value and speed, block for height and finish, sandstone for looks. Send a photo of the slope and we’ll recommend one with numbers.
Landscaping
We do the machine side — levels, drainage, soil, turf, rock placement. For intricate planting design we work alongside your landscape designer.
Usually, yes — it’s a falls-and-drainage problem. Regrade, ag-lines to a pit or street, then turf. Gone in a week.
After trades are off site but before handover pressure hits. Book us 2–3 weeks out from practical completion.
Tell us about the job.
Price back within 24 hours — or we’ll tell you straight if it’s not our kind of work.
